The Importance of Proper Nutrition in Your Everyday Life

August 26th, 2011

Have you ever heard the saying, “you are what you eat?” To some extent, this is true, because if you constantly eat unhealthy foods, you are prone to being or becoming an unhealthy person. The foods we eat are extremely important, since they either help or inhibit our ability to grow, maintain bodily function, and prevent illness. Therefore, if you value your health, you should learn as much as you can about healthy eating.

Healthy eating begins from the moment we are born. As a child, we grew quite rapidly and this is due primarily to the foods we ate. Foods contain nutrients that provide us not only with fuel to live our daily lives, but also with the very substances that build our bones, muscles, and organ tissues. Not getting enough of the right nutrients can cause a variety of problems, including stunting our growth. For mothers who are nursing, nutrition is important because breast milk contains the nutrients a child needs to grow and develop properly. As we grow so does our need for more substantial solid foods; however, the body’s need for proper nutrition never changes. The cells in our bodies continuously break down and rebuild, so healthy eating for growth continues to be just as important right up until the day we die.

Maintaining bodily functions is also important, but without healthy eating in our daily lives, the energy we use to think, walk, talk, breathe, and perform any other action will suffer. Our body needs energy to work, which is provided by the foods that we eat. It’s just like putting gas in the car so that it can continue to operate.

If you want to take back control of your eating habits so that you can begin to live a healthier and more fulfilling life, you must learn how to recondition your other-than-conscious mind so that it becomes natural for you to desire the right foods that will keep your body healthy. We recommend listening to the Weight Loss Series as part of your commitment to creating the necessary health changes that you want in your life.

High Intensity Interval Cardio Training

November 26th, 2010
high intensity interval cardio training
You’ve probably already heard of the more than dozens of ways to lose weight. Most people have this belief that if they just exercise a few times per week, the weight will eventually come off. While there is some truth behind that belief, a large percentage of people who decide that “now” is the right time to start working out, eventually fail within the first couple of months due to: (A) loss of motivation (ex: not seeing the results they want in a certain timeframe), or (B) misguided information (ex: disregarding the “diet” side of losing weight, improper form or technique, etc).
Nobody ever said it would be easy. The truth of the matter is, weight loss can be difficult at times. If there is one word to summarize what anyone who is looking to lose weight needs to hear, it’s COMMITMENT! You must be entirely prepared to do whatever it takes to create the changes that you want for yourself, and most importantly YOUR BODY. Regardless of whatever your fitness goals may be, High Intensity Interval Cardio Training is by far the quickest way to melt away that additional storage of fat from your body.

How to Perform High Intensity Interval Cardio Training

Step 1: Run or jog at a steady pace for 60 seconds.

Step 2: Sprint (turn level up to highest setting) and run as fast as you can for 30 seconds.

Repeat the process 10 times in a row. Sorry ladies and gents, but there is no rest period in between.

By this point, you will be exhausted, but this is where the payoff begins. Throughout the entire day, your body will continue to burn calories. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting down, driving, or even taking a nap, your bodies metabolism will skyrocket, enabling you to burn calories for several hours after your workout.

Regular cardio (jogging, walking) does not work to the same effect. Once your done, that’s it. Your body doesn’t burn any additional calories. However, with HIIT, it’s the exact opposite! You will have more energy, increased serotonin levels in the brain to increase your mood for happiness, and faster weight loss results.

Don’t forget that you will need to incorporate a healthy diet into your workouts in order to benefit from your workout efforts. Many people set goals to lose weight, but never actually realize those goals, simply because they have not developed the proper mindset to create the changes that they want for themselves and their bodies.

Shifting into the correct mindset begins with declaring the very fact that you want to change the way you look and feel. Creative Visualization and Relaxation provides a powerful way to harness the power of your mind to start thinking differently.

Survivors of Child Abuse Seeking Help

October 29th, 2010

Child abuse of any type is one of the most tragic aspects of human kind. PorterVision now offers child abuse survivors a way to live with the feeling of hope and healing through the miracle of scientific mind-technology.

“Despite years of therapy and support groups, survivors of child abuse are often unable to rise above their personal experiences to see themselves as wonderful people who deserve to be happy,” says Dr. Patrick K. Porter. “Hope and healing are difficult, and even those who go on to live rich and happy lives are unable to overcome the shadow of their torturers.”

It is this gap in care that led Dr. Patrick Porter to a breakthrough in the field of creative visualization and relaxation (CVR). Dr. Porter drew on decades of experience in creative visualization relaxation to create healing for people who were able to survive abuse. The series, inspired by Dr. Michael Irving’s Reaching Out Child Abuse Monument, contains meditations with guided imagery designed to help abuse victims overcome their experiences.

Regardless of the number of child abuse survivor stories out there, many still often carry a heavy burden of shame and humiliation,” said Porter. “This specific CVR audio series we offer at PorterVision helps free people from these destructive feelings and allows them to internalize the fact that it was never their fault. Soon later, they will be able to remove the shame and replace it with absolute joy and freedom.

More importantly, when used in combination with the ZenFrames CVR audio sessions, it allows child abuse survivors to feel loved and to love back in return. With meditations on “Empowerment”, “Healing Shame”, and “Grief and Letting Go“, healing meditations aids survivors of child abuse in the healing of self-incrimination and to celebrate their triumph over all of the adversity they faced.
